calgary stampede western showcase art show 2026
These four paintings were created specifically for—and selected for inclusion in—the Calgary Stampede Art Show.
Over the years, I have travelled countless times between Calgary, Alberta, and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where I grew up and where much of my family still lives. Along the way, I have taken thousands of photographs of the prairie landscape, many of which become the starting point for my paintings.
In this series, I wanted to capture the quiet beauty of the late-summer prairie: the muted fields, expansive skies, and subtle, almost vintage palette that emerges on slightly overcast days. These works are a reflection of both the landscape itself and the familiarity that comes from returning to it again and again.
The paintings are available through the Calgary Stampede Art Show online gallery—simply click on any image to view it there—or in person at the main gallery in the BMO Centre from July 3–12.
