Carolyn Hyde is a Calgary-based artist and graphic designer whose work is deeply influenced by her prairie roots. Born and raised in Saskatchewan, she developed an early love for art and creative expression that has shaped both her professional and artistic life.
After studying Visual Communications at Medicine Hat College, Carolyn built a successful 35+ year career in graphic design. She later pursued additional studies in Development Studies and Environmental Design at the University of Calgary before returning to design and, ultimately, to painting.
For the past 18 years, Carolyn has focused on developing her studio practice, creating abstract landscapes that reflect her connection to the prairies and the natural world. Her work explores color, texture, and memory, translating familiar landscapes into expressive, contemporary forms.
She lives in Calgary with her family, where she is dedicated to her evolving career as a full-time artist.
